Working Longer Days Than We're Used To

We've been busy renovating Katie-Lew.

Changing the layout meant removing a section of wall and turning another section into a knee wall. While I was roughing out those changes, Marlene was busy painting the kitchen-dining area and bathroom.

Marlene's decorating plan to lighten the colour in the kitchen-dining area and add red accents had her making some red frilled curtains to go with the red upholstered chairs. I have to admit, it looks pretty homey.

Previously, the crawl space needed to be sealed to help keep the plumbing from freezing,  but we're converting Katie-Lew's use to seasonal, so we're adding a couple of vents. The first hole through the foundation went better than expected, but the second was a different matter. It appears I'll have to rent something more heavy duty than the tools we brought with us.

When we're tired of renovating, we switch gears to repairing, such as changing some well worn electrical receptacles and fixing a couple of plumbing leaks. For me, the electrical repairs are easy, but the plumbing is another story.

Overall, the early results of our efforts have felt pretty good, and have spurred us on to working longer days than we're used to.
